Fullback Larry Csonka rushed for 118 yards, his seventh 100-yard plus game of his career, and scored a touchdown to lead Miami in the 1972 season opener. Marlin Briscoe, who had been acquired from Buffalo, scored the game's first touchdown on a 15-yard pass from Bob Griese. The game also introduced the famous "53" defense, which featured Bob Matheson, who wore No. 53. Garo Yepremian kicked field goals of 47 and 15 yards. |
