Height/Weight: 6-2, 215
College: Michigan
Drafted: 1970 second round, by Miami

Born: 7/30/48

Career: Although lighter than most tight ends, Mandich created havoc for opponents with his fierce competitiveness and acrobatic pass catching. He spent nine seasons in the NFL, eight with the Dolphins, amassing 119 receptions for 1,406 yards (11.6) and 23 touchdowns. Mandich caught a winning three-yard touchdown pass with 1:28 to play against Minnesota (10/1/72), which helped to preserve the unbeaten season. As Coach Shula said, "He just continues to make plays for us. He has done that right from the beginning." One of every five Mandich receptions went for a touchdown, illustrating his play-making ability.
