Career: Had two different stints with the Dolphins (1972 and 1975). In limited activity in 1972, he passed for touchdowns of 51 and 39 yards against New England when the Dolphins set a then single-game record of 502 total yards (current record ­ 584, 10/23/88 vs. Jets). The left-handed quarterback was signed as a free agent in 1975 after injuries sidelined Bob Griese and Earl Morrall, and was on the roster the final three games but did not play. Del Gaizo was a sophomore quarterback in the Syracuse backfield with future Dolphins fullback Larry Csonka and running back Floyd Little in 1966.
