Career: One of the greatest safeties in pro football throughout his career, Scott was selected to the Pro Bowl four of the six years he was with the Dolphins. In his nine-year career (the last three were spent with the Washington Redskins) Scott played in 126 games and recorded 49 interceptions for 551 yards (11.2), and returned 130 punts for 1,357 yards (10.4) and one touchdown. He was named the MVP of Super Bowl VII after tying a Super Bowl record with two interceptions and setting the record for the most return yardage with 63 yards. Scott became the first defensive back to receive the honor and held that distinction until Dallas' Larry Brown was named MVP of Super Bowl XXX, 23 years later. Scott is the Dolphins' all-time career leader with 35 interceptions and 127 punt returns for 1,330 yards (10.4). In addition, Scott ranks among the clubs all-time leaders with eight interceptions in 1974 (second), 425 interception return yards (third), and five interceptions during his rookie season of 1970 (fifth). His career punt return average of 10.5 yards ranks third in Dolphins history and his season average of 12.1 yards (1973) ranks fifth on the team's all-time list.
